Tokusen Shoyu Photo

Photographer’s Note

I came across this stylish guy, immediately admired his fashion style mixed Jamaica and Japan, and then captured him in the background with rasta colour and Bob Marley's photo.
"トクセンしょうゆ (Tokusen Shoyu)" in Japanese written in his back means premium quality soy sauce, it's essential for the Japanese as well as extra-virgin olive oil.
This is one scene of One Love Jamaica Festival in Tokyo.

I didn't do such a stiff request to get a model release that might mess up a good festive mood, but i asked briefly him for having captured him in the picture.

Hello Hisashi,
I like the way you use that extreme wide angle lens for your street shots, it adds really good dynamics to the shot.
Interesting guy, smoking the cigar and wearing the big hat shows a lot of his character.
Good shot, I like it.

こんにちは Hisashi. Very effective use of the ultra-wide angle again, focusing on the festival visitor in the stylish tokusen shoyu shirt. Good rendition of the festival mood, and nice circumstantial framing with interesting details.

Hello Hisashi,

This festival must have just been getting started, this guy has his "spliff" going and folks seem to be looking for a place to land. Do folks in Japan get as upset as many Americans do when someone smokes a cigar near them? Years ago I used them for crowd control in close-in situations and had plenty of room around me. Now I can only have them infrequently and often in the privacy of my own large, open air expanse of area so no one gives me the stink eye or lectures me on my health...

Anyway, great festival shot, your subject appears ready to party!
