Back to the traditional performing art from the tropical Samba. As you see, the mask for "Noh" is very small compared with the size of face, but this is the characteristic points of "Noh".

I like the simple geometry and framing of this image which seems to echo something about the Noh performance itself - I would like to see a little more tonal definition in the highlights of the performer's face but a nice image nonetheless.

you are really very lucky to see and photograph such rare events!
I like this composition, too. If I were in that situation, perhaps I would take hundreds of photos of these participants from all possible points of view - so that later I could choose the best to show :)
it's really very unusual that the mask is so small... and it's also interesting that the colour of the mask matches the colour of the face.
As usual, excellent natural colours and DOF :)

Hello Takero, Is he supposed to look fierce? He really does. He is also a big man. Beautiful fan in his hand. Another interesting shot from your culutral travels. Great picture. Regards, Roger

Ohayōgozaimasu Takero san,
Very funny mask, too small for a rather big face of the artist. interesting hat, the colourful fan completes the nice composition.

your pics are the most effective and less expensive way of discovering Japanese traditions for those who, like me, live on the other side of the planet. You are doing a great job, photographying all these festivals: great quality pics + interesting notes.
Have a good day!
