This photograph is taken to the Sanja Matsuri(festival) in this spring. Sanja Matsuri is one of the three great Shinto festivals in Tokyo. It is held on the third weekend of every May at Asakusa Shrine. A local resident participates in a festival per town association, shoulders a mikoshi, parades a neighborhood, and supports a festival. Many young and old of both sexes wear specific clothes named Happi and participate in festival. Probably, this family will just be going to go to the hall of the festival.
Happi is a traditional Japanese straight-sleeved coat usually made of indigo or brown cotton and imprinted with a distinctive crest. They are usually worn only to festivals. (From Wikipedia)

Wonderful light and colours and wonderful clothes. It's nice to see such brightly dressed persons in the street among all the ordinarily dressed people. It is a lively and pleasant photo where we can enjoy looking at the girls who are dancing with joy as they are walking with their mother to take part in the festival.

Now I learnt something new, Mikio. Happi.
That's TE mission par excellence, to enlarge knowledge about places and traditions in our little world.
Nice photo with good clarity, the girl on left caught galloping between the white road marks...lovely, as kids always do.
Have a nice evening,

The picture is very interesting for the strong colors of the typical clothes ther are wearing! Very good light and framing! Excellent job!

This is a nicely observed piece of social documentary taken from behind, a cheery well observed and captured timely that works to include some nice striking colors of the festive clothes to catch the eyes. Your skill in capturing the moment is always admired as displayed as it looks so very spontaneous though, the lighting control is second to none, sharp and clear with nice warm glow to complete the composition. Excellent snap shot, and the useful notes, Congrats.
