Photographer's Note
I went to the Toda rowing course seeing this Japanese boat race. The weather was a cloudy sky when I left my home. However, when I arrived at the nearest station at noon, it started to rain suddenly and sounded to thunder. I waited for the weather to improve at the convenient store near the station for about 30 minutes. Since it became a light rain, I went to the course by foot by expecting that the race will be restarted. The weather improved, and the race was resumed after having waited for about one hour. This course is a full-scale rowing place which exists 2000 m in full length, and most domestic main races are held. As for one side of a course, a private house or appartments stand in a row, and Arakawa river is flowing through the side opposite to cross a bank. And, the boathouses of the university or business team stood in a row around the last point of a course, and rowers were moving busily. The line of the course is divided into two which goes to the object for races, and a starting point. This photograph is taken at the place on the way where the rowers who enters in the competition of double sculls goes to a starting point. Although the rowing has many competitions, victory or defeat are simple. It gives to win for the team arrived firstly at the goal point. As for rowing, both of the rowers and viewers are release-like and look healthily. The cumulonimbus cloud had appeared in the sky after thunderstorm on that day.

Hi Mikio,
Rowing is a sport difficult and challenging. It's a beautiful composition on the diagonal. A spectacular photo, bright, colorful, and deep. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Hi Mikio
Like the sense of movement, dynamism and nicely balanced composition. Well spotted opportunity indeed and your view point is impressive depicting the course of the canoe extending the depth. Almost as good as a nice landscape and this injects that extra creative element into the shot and recaptures the excitment. Nice crisp detail with such a wonderful backdrop. Well done, Congrats.
Best regards
