Photographer's Note

This flower(moss phlox) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the department of Polemoniaceae. Height is about 10 cm. It grows thick so that it may crawl on the ground, and a leaf is hard long and slender. A light peach and red, and white flower are pickled in spring. It is native of North America. "Hill of moss phlox" in Chichibu is located in the park which can command a whole view of the Chichibu city area. The city is in the westernmost part of Saitama. Unlike other parts of the prefecture, it is largely mountainous and the population is concentrated in river terraces along the Arakawa River. It is Saitama's largest municipality in terms of surface area and shares borders with Tokyo, Yamanashi, Nagano and Gunma Prefectures.
