This region (Isogo-ku) is located in the southeast part just outside the center of Yokohama. Most of the lowland is reclaimed land, hilly area is spread around it. In the past, here is suspected that coastal hills extending from Negishi had been pushed out to the coast. Then, landfill is performed several times until the front of the hill to Showa from Meiji period, and prefectural road was in place. And then, streetcar ran from Yokohama center to Sugita, integration of the population advanced by its traffic. Currently, this area are of residential land in a suburban city, there are inhabited by typical middle class majority. Many of the residents would the people who are working in near Tokyo, center of Yokohama and the petroleum complex facing the Negishi Bay. If we walk the narrow streets or back alley, local shopping area is still in between residential areas, but they've deserted uniformly without shoppers. With the exception of the elderly person, residents would be carrying a foot in large commercial facilities as nearby supermarket. Only child , was playing in the alley cheerfully.

Très original assemblage de deux prises de vue.
La note d'accompagnement permet de mieux comprendre les images présentées.
Le choix du noir et blanc convient parfaitement dans cette réalisation.

I'd rather name this "strong afternoon light", Mikio, and that justified a B&W version.
There was a strong contrast with daylight to shaded areas, yet managed well with good DOF and clarity on both photos.
Enjoy a good evening,

Interesting documentation from smalltown Japan. Althgough the buildings look quite modern the streets have an oldtime atmosphere, like I would imagine Japan several decades ago, before the spectacular economic developments. These are very pleasant street views showing the ordinary everyday lives of ordinary people.

Nice collage. I like the building in the right photo. It looks tiny and is very cute. It also reminds me of a boat.
