Photographer’s Note

Japan's urban centers, particularly Tokyo and the surrounding area, have a very large homeless population, that most people are completely unaware of. The one major difference between most of these men and those you would encounter in other industrialized countries is that they are very organized; one of their trademarks is to run used newspaper and manga stands outside of train stations. These guys are very industrious, and have their pride.

I didn't go out looking for this guy, but while wandering around at five in the morning, waiting for train service to begin, I noticed him sleeping out in the open.

Taken with the DSC-S30, the greatest digital camera ever made. :)
