Planet of the apes

After "Baraka" we are in "the planet of the apes". Few pictures two films. (Planet of the Apes is a 1968 science fiction/thriller film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner loosely based on the novel La planète des singes by Pierre Boulle).

Well, this is the way they leave. Cro Magnon syle! except they do not paint.

To see them on real time you can use the Snow Monkey Live Web Cam at: http://www.jigokudani-yaenkoen.co.jp/livecam/monkey/index.htm

This web cam gives you a close-up view of the Snow Monkey in Japan. It up-dates about every couple of minutes.
Jigokudani Monkey Park is located in the valley of Yokoyu-River that flowing from Shigakogen area of the northern part of Nagano-Prefecture.

They keep warm with a thick fur coat in the winter and soak in hot thermal pools. They are good swimmers. If they live near the coast they will dive for shellfish. Despite their ability to survive in such a harsh environment, snow monkeys are endangered. As populations increase, human developments encroach on their habitat. Snow monkeys are mainly "frugivorous," meaning they eat fruit. But as their habitat disappears, so does their source of food. As a result, many snow monkeys now raid orchards and fields for food, putting them at risk of being captured or killed by farmers. Without habitat protection measures, the future of the snow monkey in Japan is uncertain.
