The cherry blossoms are already out in San Francisco, so I felt like putting up this simple temple and sakura combination. This was taken in Tomo na Ura, which is a very nice fishing village near Fukuyama, I'm surprised there are so far no other photos from Tomo on TE, it is a very photogenic place. The darker blossoms at the bottom are not cherry, and the Windows sky is real.

Very nice. I like the tighteness of the shot. It shows the subject but in an underplayed way. Sort of like a slit in a skirt... :-)

Hi, Tan! Thanks for posting this picture now:) Because here in Moscow it's snow everywhere and -20 degrees:) So your shot is like one small step to the spring! Great details, colours, sharpness! Wonderful picture!
Emmie76 (2009) 2006-02-04 15:47
The contrasts of colors is amazing : red and rose, it really makes it! We only see a small part of the temple but you can already tell it's a beautiful building.
nwoehnl (122) 2006-02-04 15:58
Nice photo with the cherry blossoms in full swing, Tan. The ornate roof is well framed surrounded by the outburst of color, including the Windows-sky as you put it ;) In fact, as Jean-Yves mentioned, our travel plans will be overlapping and result in a meeting in Japan in late March/early April, upon which occasion there may be the odd attempt to recreate similar photos ;) Very good work you did here, as usual.

Great composition here... originally I thought it was Nijo-jo from Kyoto, but I guess not. The beautifully saturated colours are great. Well done.
Henryk_Bilor (20799) 2006-02-04 16:50
Beautiful colours of flowers. Great arrangement with an egzotic (for me ;)) roof.
Tue (27696) 2006-02-04 18:06
The colours of the blossoms are just so strong and really fantastic here! And you put them very nicely together with the temple here. Excellent work, thanks for sharing!
Gerrit (48220) 2006-02-04 18:45
The structure and colours are very strong here. Nearly an abstraction. The elements are so Japonais that they work as a pastiche.
thanks and regards, gerrit

Hi Tan. Like others have pointed out I like how close in the framing is. The high saturation really works with those flowers and the blossoms. That must be an awesome sight seeing the cherry blossoms in Japan. Beautiful shot Tan.

This one looks dedicated to Norbert and me who will soon try their best to populate the sakura theme on TE, a lovely combination of the two sorts blossoming against this nice exotic roof.
Have a nice week end,

Nice rich colours Tan, and a great composition with its intense framing. The colours of the trees are very impressive and jump out of the screen. Good reflections in the soft light to give depth. Well done.

very nice shot, great colour.
peter1892 (1681) 2006-02-05 7:32
Great shot - I really like the way the frame is split into different areas of distinct & contrasting colour.
Cormac (26563) 2006-02-05 10:09
I like the framing in this shot! The roof line is perfectly placed, and it divides the pink from the red very nicely. It's an unusual shot from you, but it works very well. Great shot!

Wow !! Great picture with an impressive sense of composition and superb colors !
I like the pink of the "cerisier du Japon", contrasting with the deep red and green-grey of the construction !
Very nice !

Almost spring??? it seems a summer day!!!
fantastic colours Tan and great composition full of light and with a brilliant POV.
here in Milan, we have still some snow on the ground. last week we had more than an half meter in 48 hours.
jbweasle (9373) 2006-02-07 6:43
Hello Tan, this is a wonderfully saturated picture of the cherry blossom. With the curving roof it is a classically Japanese picture.
elmec (12210) 2006-02-07 13:47
I like the full of colours composition!
Good mix - architecture and nature !
I like it so much!
donluicu (24724) 2006-02-13 12:10

lestans (17130) 2006-02-15 15:48
I've seen this one only now!! It is too beautiful!! I MUST go to Japan when I can see all these flowers!
And your composition is great, of course
john_c (24662) 2006-02-27 11:26
A warming, colourful shot to remind us that winter's grip is loosening. Your framing and cropping here is outstanding to cloak the structure in grandeur. The light and shadow effects on the temple are enhancing, and it is delightful the way the roof slopes into the blossom area. A very fine capture, Tan.

Tan, salut !
Belle composition avec ce toit si particulier et ces arbustes fleuris. Le ciel est, lui aussi, magnifique.

A very Japanese picture, with this nice chery blossom and a finely ornmement roofs, with very good details and a beautiful color for the wooden parts supporting the roof. The wall of the house is perhaps the part I am the least intersted in, but the red tree in the forground is a sure winner.
All the best,
CrinaCeyhun (21) 2006-09-12 10:26
inanılmaz güzellikte bir fotoğraf...her bir eleman birbirine dokunmamak için sakınıyor gibi...harika renkler...iyi günler

This is one of your old jewels from the gallery. Absolutely fabulous how your composed & framed this..with the sloping roof, the sakura & the blossoms in two colours.

this is a "Reala" painting.
Very good composition well-exposed with brilliant colours.
Thank you very much.
