Photographer's Note
This is the Children's Peace Monument in Hiroshima which is visited by almost every school kid in Japan. It is dedicated to Sadako, a girl from Hiroshima who died of Leukemia caused by the nuclear bomb. She folded paper cranes believing if she managed to fold 1000 to have a free wish. Just before she achieved the goal she lost her fight. To this day hundreds of school children visit the monument and bring paper cranes they have made in remembrance of Sadako.
