Photographer’s Note
This is taken from on Mount Fuji. I was looking across the Japan Alps, which were coated in a fine mist.
The image was very white over the mountains. When I auto-adjusted the levels it had this effect, which struck me. It reminds me of old Japanese paintings of Mount Fuji and its surroundings, with the colours and slightly 'washed out' appearance reminiscent of watercolour paint.

Nice one. Really looks like a painting.
Only the trees in the foreground disturb a bit...

I like it!
At first glance I thought it was poor quality, but after reading your description and enlarging the view, I understand why you posted it! I really like the idea of looking like a washed out water colour, it looks really effective and gives a real 'Japanese feel' to the photo! The view could be in a myriad of places around the world but by giving it this effect it 'looks' Japanese!
The view itself looks fantastic! A beautiful spot!! I also like the trees in the foreground giving it some more life than just the mountains.
Well done and thanks for sharing is with us all here at Trek Earth!

Richard,
I can't believe it's not a painting.
Very well done, it looks great!

Hi Richard,
I agree with Joel completely. I've always been drawn to Asian art and you are so right this photo looks very much like a Japanese painting. I don't think the foreground trees detract at all. On the contrary, I think the image would be rather bland without them and would lack perspective and contrast. Best, Rachel
