Photographer's Note
Picture taken from the edge of Lake Yamanakako.
The candles:
Every Year on two days (sun-rise/sun-set), you can observe the diamond Fuji phenomena, i.e. the sun rising or setting just above the peak on the mountain. It is know as Diamond-Fuji in Japan.
Today was the day for sun-set Diamond Fuji. There is a group who camps here every year during these 2 days. They light up the candles in the pattern of the mountain.
100s of photographs line up to take the picture. It’s a very beautiful sight.

Beautifully captured, Avijit! I like the composition and the lighting conditions (before sunset)! Good exposure control and positioning of the candle lit..things at the FG! Its a bit sad the picture suffers from a bit of noise, which can be seen around the contour of Mt. Fiji. Also it looks like the picture suffrs from shallow DOF - Did this picture was taken hand held or tripod-mounted, and what aperture was used here? It looks as if the aperture was quite open, and thus the lack of sharpness around mid and depth of the picture. On other perspective, Can you explain a bit what is this ceremnoy intended for?
In any case, great picture!!
