I photographed this group of pilgrims on the slopes of Mt. Fuji.

Shinto pilgrims trek to the top of the sacred Mt. Fuji (3776 metres) to pray for peace and good fortune as in Shintoism Mt. Fuji is regarded as the supreme home of the gods.

Hi Marlene,

The colourful backpacks seems a contradiction with the traditional clothing of these pilgrims.
Good composition with the mountain on the background.

Mt Fuji! So did you go up the summit? July month is a good time. Although I may not pray up there, but surely with a camera on hand and eyes wide open, the Fuji cannot be a miss.

You saw a nice contrast of the white to the dark rocks. The sun and shadow at diagonal, a nice POV.

I wonder why Shinto is confined only to Japan and it never spreads to places. tfs

Hello Marlene,
An interesting picture with a striking composition. The line of pilgrims dressed in white make a strong contrast to the barren rocks above them. Their backpacks make this a very colourful picture.

very interesting view, the people together while climbing the fuji. I liked the strips of the mountain in the up side, showing the areas they will have to cross until the top
