Photographer’s Note
Matsumoto Jo is my second favorite of the original Japanese castles. Although built for defense, it was never attacked... the worst damage it received was after the Meiji restoration. Most Japanese castles suffered years of neglect from a government trying to separate themselves from the Samurai lords they had overthrown in the 1860's. Some were offered up for public auction, others were used to house military equipment. It wasn't until the early 1900's that the Japanese government started to see the cultural value of these buildings, and by then it was too late for most. Hence the few remaining in their original condition.

Nicely taken Andrew, could be a scene from a zen calligraphy painting. You have captured a very Japanese feel.
Thanx

Hello Andrew. Welcome to Trek Earth. I took this photo of yours and did a workshop for you. Take a look and let me know what you think. What I see here is a nicely balanced frame with building and trees together. Both are very important for the Japanese mind. Alot of the Japanese people who have moved to BC like to live here because of the scenery. I have met many a Japanese tourist on many of the hiking trails in my area. Thanks for posting and for stopping by!

Andrew,
This is a lovely photo. I spent 1 1/2 years on Okinawa and miss it and it's people very much. Your framing and POV are very nice and the weather was cooperating with you as well. Very nice.

Hello Andrew
This is an amazing perspective, I would initially think that a tree would ruin the view, but this proves the opposite.
The POV is excellent and that tree adds a nice element of age to this photo, it's amazing how old a tree really can be and you can't always tell by looking at them!
The photo is a bit square-ish but I still think it works, also it looks slightly dark but it's ok.

Hi Andrew, This is really what you look for - a story in one picture with great composition. Like the tree framing the picture. Well done. Michael
