Photographer’s Note
This was taken very near to matsumoto castle, it was at a tea house, I have posted one before, but only half of it, so I would like to show you a fuller one, with its full extension, it is round.
This is where many people drink the special tea under this kind of a shade and there is a special way to drink it too, it involves turning the bowl with two hands and after drinking it you have to turn it back the way you turned it before....how complicated huh?
Also people eat mochi too, it is kind of sticky and quite big, a fair few old people die because they forget to chew on the things
I hope you like the shot

Hi Dan,
Mesmerising colours and composition. The lines of the umbrella seem to spin and merge together - I think they create some kind of optical illusion.
Does the yellow come from sunlight peeking through the thin fabric of the umbrella?
Great work. Nice POV.
Thanks for sharing,
Richard

Hello,
Superbe image graphique. J'aime beaucoup les effets d'optique créés par les baleines du parasol.
Très bonne idée.

Hi Dan,
excellent idea. nice colours and perfect symmetry there in the shade! I was just amazed while scrolling down this photo it seems to me that the lines originating from the center becomes curvy! Some kind of illusion may be!
great capture

Hi Dan,
An upbeat, eye catching shot, which you have rendered rather artistically with the fine cropping. I like the varying shades of red and pink here and the elaborate pattern at the top. The black pole provides balance. This is very fine work, Dan.

A well-seen detail, Dan - good graphical effect with the umbrella lines and shapes emerging from the center, and nice contrast between the rhythmic black pattern of the lines and the vivid red and other tones found in the umbrella's coating.

Hi Dan, those paper based umbrelles become rare in daily life now. You have shown the details of the well made colorful traditional umbrelle. Good use of light and nice details.

Nice one Dan. That's a great idea to fill the whole frame with this umbrella. A surprising pattern picture with a great light behing enhancing colors and material.

Hi Dan, I always think of Japan when I see these wonderful umbrellas. This one has very attractive colours, and it is a well composed image too. Interesting notes to read about the way to drink the tea too. Thank you for sharing,
Janice

Hi Dan
A pleasant use of this colorful umbrella to see these converging lines and gradiant colors, a good tight close-up to graphical.

This kind of close up and dof produce great graphic and abstract shots. The pink colors are OK even if there was probably a little too much light. Whatever, an icon from the east. Well done.
