Shirakawago is one of the most famous and favorite tourist spots which specially friends from overseas like. Surrouding mountains are full of colors by Autumn present. The following is from Wikipedia
The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-gō and Gokayama are one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The site is located in the Shogawa river valley stretching across the border of Gifu and Toyama Prefectures in central Japan. Shirakawa-gō ("White River Old-District") is located in the village of Shirakawa in Gifu Prefecture. The Gokayama ("Five Mountains") area is divided between the former villages of Kamitaira and Taira in Nanto, Toyama Prefecture. These villages are well known for their houses constructed in the architectural style known as gasshō-zukuri. The Gasshō-zukuri, "prayer-hands construction" style is characterized by a thatched and steeply slanting roof resembling two hands joined in prayer. The design is exceptionally strong and, in combination with the unique properties of the thatching, allow the houses to withstand and shed the weight of the region's heavy snowfalls in winter.
The houses are large, with three to four storeys encompassed between the low eaves, and historically intended to house large extended families and a highly efficient space for a variety of industries. The densely-forested mountains of the region still occupy 96% of all land in the area, and prior to the introduction of heavy earth-moving machinery, the narrow bands of flat lands running the length of the river valley limited the area available for agriculture and homestead development. The upper storeys of the gasshō houses were usually set aside for sericulture, while the areas below the first (ground) floor were often used for the production of nitre, one of the raw materials needed for the production of gunpowder.

Hi dear Takero,
was there a festival? I suppose not. Shirakawago is worth going for itself. How wonderful looks this thatched old house with autumn trees in the background.
marvelous composition. Of course, I remember it very well.
have a nice week

Not your normal style, but none the worse for that. Lovely muted colours, which you've sensibly not tried to over-saturate, as is so often done on this site. Nicely composed too.

Excellent wooden cottage close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity, beautiful colourful natural surrounding. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions. Must be a beautiful place to relax. Well done my friend.

The colours of autumn are lovely and I like the softness in the BG. The house fits so well into this lovely countryside. A strong composition especially with the tree in the FG.
Kind Regards, Ann

Its always beautiful to see the colors of Autumn, but even more so when this fine piece of traditional architecture is peeping from the trees. Wonderful depth in the scene as it stretches off into the distance, and the most looks excellent.
Thanks as always, have a great week.
All the best

A very impressive World Heritage structure, surrounded in misty multi autumn colors climbing upwards.

The building is very interesting and unique and the surroundings are outstandingly beautiful. At this time of the year the colours seen on these hillsides are spectacular. You have composed this photo very well, and the haze gives a nice softness to the colours.
