We was lucky enough to be given A reserve tickets to the 14th day (of 15) of the Grand Sumo (O-Zumo) Tournament in Nagoya. Of course everyone knows that Sumo is a national sport of Japan.
For all those that have read the tourist guides that say 'don't bother about going to the sumo'... ignore them! It was an awesome afternoon... The atmosphere was brilliant... SO different from my country's national sport (Rugby). I'll be going again next year... with a better camera!!

You've done pretty well with the camera you've got in my opinion Charlotte.
We certainly get the idea of this tight little auditorium, packed to the rafters - with the action, physical and ceremonial, all lit up on this little circle within a square.
I like it.

Hi Charlotte. Great photo. Unusual but effective composition, not many would think to composed a sporting event in vertical format, but it works brilliantly here. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Looks like a full house for this event. How fortunate you were to get a ticket. I tried and didnt have the luck. Mind you the seats price was steep (but worth it I'm sure).
For this shot, I like how you encompassed the audience, the sumo floor and the suspended ceiling all in one shot. It was a better choice then zooming in and getting a granulated pic from your digital point and shoot.
I look forward to your shots next year!

Hello Charlotte, Very interesting picture and regardless of your camera, a very good composition. Unfortunately I have not got the idea to search for Sumo Tournament, so probably the next time. TFS, Michael

Kia Ora Charlotte,
This is one sport that being big is better ... certainly a huge sport in Japan. You've done well capturing the event from this far ... well done! Sorry we lost in our Rugby ... oh well it is something to look forward 3 yrs. from now. Tfs and have a nice weekend.
