Photographer's Note
Firstly I would like to thank those who wished me a happy birthday yesterday, it makes me feel that I have friends. Only joking.
well on the same day I took this shot, this time the castle being the main focus and not the cherry blossom. Why.... well because there were so many couples surrounding the castle just admiring the sheer beauty of it with all the flood lights lighting it up to its full glory.
For those who might not know, this castle along with many other castles in Japan were destroyed during WW2. This is a newly built castle to realy draw in tourists and boy has it. people flock there from all over the world, every season and festive days.
To be honest, amongst many students that I have taught in Japan, many are not angered by the Americans, alot of them know what happened and I guess forgiving is hard but life moves on. American teachers are liked in the school in Japan alongside the English, Aussies, Canadians etc....
I guess todays note it about moving on with life, war was and is about greed and religion, the Japanese people now are very afraid of anything that could harm them, so instead of having an army, they have a self defence force to protect others and they are doing a very good job about it in Iraq too.
I have not cropped or adjusted anything in this picture.
I hope you like it.
Thanks again,

I really like night shots, but in the past few months due to long hours at work I was unable to venture out at night with my camera. Night evokes special feelings and whatever you shoot, be it a building or people doing this or that, takes on a whole new meaning. This is wonderful. The perspective of looking up at this building combined with the perfectly black sky make for a very interesting composition. Very well done!

I like this more than the one from yesterday, with the focus solely on the blossoms. I think it works well in this light.
I would have guessed a slower shutter speed, then noticed the f2.2 lens.

Dear Daniel, very nice work. Composition is good with framing the castle between those trees. Wonderful dark blue background and a good uplooking angle. Thanks for showing us a great architecture piece !! Yours, Jan

Well done, Daniel, a very original shot. I have seen many photos of these Japanese castles, but never one a nighttime. The lights on in the windows, gives it that lived in look. Stunning architecture. Well framed and captured.

Great idea to show the castle in focus now, after giving a tantalizing oof glimpse of it yesterday ;-). It seems a lot of effort has gone into fitting this castle with loads of interesting adornments of different kinds - I can well understand it draws tourists ;-)

Interesting and kind of differnet night shot of this fine caslte. The bleached light makes it look special, kind of spooky mood.
You did a good job here Daniel..

beautiful palace.....it is superb!!!!!. and remember, Japan attacked USA in Pearl Harbor first...... it wuld be nice if there never was another war..... and i think not rely religion, it is control of others and their resources...... or in defense...... or in case of some rulers, POWER.

The castle is nicely framed in the photo. I normally expect some yellowish color for illuminated buildings at night, but this one has a more natural color which makes it unique.
