[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A local told me that the bridge is build every year after the end of rain season. During the dry season(last about 6-7 months) with the bridge erected, people can easily cross the river from their village.
During rain season the river will flood and have strong current. The bamboo bridge would not survive the current and will get destroyed. Once the rain seasons stop, the villagers will collect money to build a new bridge. And the cycle continues....
....until this year. Currently the goverment is building a permanent concrete bridge and scheduled to finish soon. So there wont be another bamboo bridge in this spot next year. Sad for us photographers but I'm sure its economically make more sense for the locals.

Great POV and DOF. Very interesting strucuture in the bridge. And very beautiful bikes... Very well seen and composed shot, Ricardo.

This is a lovely shot, Ricardo. I agree with Olli, the POV and DOF are great. A splendid composition!

A Great photo, great note and a sad but all too familiar story. Of course the new government bridge will be built from concrete and other expensive materials thus alienating the villagers from any part of its construction, upkeep and repair. The sense of self-sufficiency is undermined and the people are increasingly dependent on the whims of the state. My experience from India suggests that the new bridge will be badly built and its foundations will be washed away during the next heavy rains.

Very good POV showing a lot of details on the construction of the bridge and good DOF too. Composition is excellent. Well done!

Yes, a lovely shot and technicaly everything is succesfull. The note, re-building of the bridge every year, reminds me the myth of sisyphus.

Fantastic shot with great use of a shallow DOF. The diagonal of the bridge across the frame is lovely.

Where was this bridge in Yogya? I don't remember it (I lived in Jogja in 02-03).

Cheers!

Great point of view and DOF! Very sharp in the right place and color balanced well. Good work!

It is not just ecenomy, there is also a safety aspect of things that collapse and the aspect of how the community is ran while the bridge is gone for long periods.

Your picture is great, a fine diagonal of the bridge and the short dof let´s us concentrate on the girls.

I even think this would work in B&W, killing that pink shirt.

une procession de bonnes-soeurs .. qui ont oublié de sourire . LOL
The nuns who have missed to smile .
:-))

Good shot for this compo. But, if you did not make it by purpose, the DOF did not seem to me good enough. I really would like to see the faces of the others here.
Thanks for sharing with us.:))

Beautiful composition, nice perspective and skillful use of DOF.
Very well captured, Ricardo.

Marvellous picture. Great DOF.
Thanks

nice pix, original subject, and will stay one (original) as more concrete bridges are erected around Asia's countryside. I regret the young lady has a hard stare, but maybe this type of bridge asks one's concentration.

superb in every regard. life as it is a well captured. Beautifully broken.

a great shot.. Interesting note as well.

I rally have to visit indonesia.. May be one day if I get sick of India.

Hi Ricardo.

A great depiction of fundamental civil engineering prevalent in this neck of the woods. Your photograph displays so many of the basic elements required - the diagonality of the framework and people crossing, a good demontration of DOF, the positioning of your chosen subject a third of the way into the frame.....nice one!

Oh, and a great accompanying note too!

Well done,

Regards,

Vic, Singapore.

A great shot of an original moment
You well captured this everyday life moment and your note is explaining a lot

Quite huge portion of exotic and great teaching us photo. Good DOF and sharpness. Bravo.

Great image! The POV, DOF, colors, details, textures and especially light are stunning. Not much more to say.

Very nice picture. The bridge looks great. I like the DOF and the way the bridge goes off into the background.

Great slice of life picture - the diagonal cut of the cyclists leading the eye from the strong gaze of the foremost figure back across the bridge is great.

You don't need to hear what I want to critique. Please only notice my presence here, in front of this photo./
