The Ancient Chief's Mummy

Wim Tok Mabel's mummy held by one of his descendant. Apparently the mummy is 362 years old. Wim Tok Mabel was a "big man" and everybody in the valley wanted his advices. Even nowadays somebody is looking for his advice! Sumpaima village, Baliem valley (Papua Barat, Indonesia).

i think this is a strange picture
maby if you had included his descendant in the picture and changed the pov to a lower level it would not sound so strange. i also would have cut the hand on top of his had - it has nothing to do with the rest of the composition

Bima,
that is quite a remarkable shot and is exactly the type of image that makes me so fond of TE. I'm sure that I will always find some exotic moments here in image that I otherwise never would have the chance to see.
Absolutely stunning shot! So, did you ask for some photographic advice to Wim Tok Mabel? ;-)

Wah...baru tau di Papua juga ada mummy, its good you shown that here... tapi saya pikir mungkin lebih bagus kalau included the papua men on behind, maybe it will more exotic. Apapun juga photo ini pasti menambah dokumentasi penting tetang mummy yang ada di Papua. Thanks for the shot Mas...

Etonnante prise de vue ! Cette momie me fait penser à celle de Rascar Kapak dans Tintin. La posture est bizarre et le noir et blanc colle bien à ce type de prise de vue.
