Photographer’s Note

I'm not sure if they are mother and daughter and how close they belong to the man who died about 3 weeks before. I think they have quite a very similar profile. These two ladies brought some offerings which get burned together with the the dead man.

This is just a moment before the fire let the soul free on the cremation ceremony.

To this ceremony all people wear their traditional Balinese dressing.

The cremation was a bit outside from Ubud.

Hi Nino, two things concern me about this image. One: is the fact that the lady on the foreground is OOF and the lady on the background is slightly over-exposed. The second issue is the format, I'm not sure that the full frame is working for me. I have the impression that a tighter crop just to the faces would have been more dramatic. It is not a bad image, I think that I would have taken a different approach.

Hallo Nino. Es ist schon interessant, wenn mehrere TE-Mitglieder gleichzeitig Photos aus Indonesien veröffentlichen. Natürlich ist jeder neugierig auf die Bilder der anderen. Denn jeder hat eine andere Sichtweise, interessiert sich für andere Motive usw. Das Interesse für Personen finde ich immer optimal. Dein heutiges Photo zeigt einen spannenden Moment. Erstaunlich, dass Mutter und Tochter so entspannt wirken. Das Photo ist aber auch ein gutes Doppelportrait. Es gefällt mir sehr gut. Viele Grüße, Wolfgang.

Good double portrait of the ladies with focus on the older one( maybe a wider DOF to have them both sharp was not bad either?) Good tight framing and a nice dark green background...

Hi Nino,
Perfect lighting, clarity of detail, and your usual fine cropping technique make this a stunning portraiture shot. The pathos is much evident in their expressions. Very effective, my friend.
