Moon, stars, clouds and palm tree

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A peaceful feeling, hearing the sea behind me and the laughter in front of me of people enjoying their fish and rice at a beach restaurant.
A night shot of a palm tree on the beaches of South Nias. Clouds move quite quickly, giving already a nice feel of movement with shutter speeds of 8 sec and lower. No 15 or 30 secs needed with this sky.
The reflection of the light on the tree is from a small beach place selling dishes of fish and rice. A conscious choice to make the shot close to that light.
Technical note:
Noise has been removed with noise ninja photoshop plugin - the tree in itself has been left noisy to look more natural. The sky has softened a bit due to the noise reduction. The picture was a raw image - exposure, saturation and contrast have been increased at that point.
PS: A workshop is added with the original RAW picture + frame. Though almost not visible in the original picture, the stars are really there! I worked on the original 10MP RAW with the exposure settings to make them more visible. |

Je ne sais que penser de cette photo.Elle ne me laisse pas indifférent mais me laisse indécis: entre la photo créative originale et la photo ratée!
good management of the light.
great shot

Hi Dennis,
Beatiful photo and succesful pp job. This is more better than "as shot" version. Waiting next one :)
With my best regards
I love a moody shot like this! The color on the tree looks a bit artificial, but good call on shutter speed. Great placing of those clouds! Very romantic.

Hi Dennis,
I like this photo a lot! It has sort of an eerie/spooky and peaceful mood all at the same time! Almost like I need to make sure I stay inside in case any vampires come to get me, yet at the same time it makes me want to lay out on a hammock tonight! ;o) Great composition and I love what you've done with the sky. The palm tree also looks much more visible in this shot rather than your workshop. But the darkness and whispy clouds add to the mood of the photo. Well done and thanks for sharing!
Your Friend,
Liz :o)
