Still Gepeluk Lombok, earlier in the afternoon, the same day.
The village income is coming from two activities mainly, the most traditional is picking up the crop of seaweeds that grow just meters off the beach. The women take care of that.
The second relies on occasional surfers that happen -quite scarcely though- to pass here, the local youngters provide their help to transport them on a surf break.
That was the first question I was asked when I got out of the car "where did you put your surfboard?". I didn't have one, so I was of little interest, but still walked down the beach to see the ladies at work and spend one of the most memorable afternoon in remote Gepeluk village.

Great shot of everyday living in a coastal community. The background is as intriguing as the forground.
Any idea what kind of seaweed they are picking and for what type of market? I sailed to Lombok in '87 and thought then I would like to make a living by the sea. Today I'm an oyster farmer in BC Canada.
WOW...simply beautiful! The expression on their faces, the colors, wonderful! Just one thing, and I might be pushing here a bit, but I wish I could see what her hands are doing (I mean the lady in the foreground).
Fantastic photo!!!!!!!! i love her tongue sticking out the corner of her mouth.....
Luko, it's an honest shot - real.
