Funny feeling in Toraja where everything seems oriented towards death.

In this cave where broken coffins, bones and skulls were lying all over the place, a few children were playing and occasionnally asking for the ritual gula gula or pensel sekola. I took a pic of this little girl with an intentional background. She's sitting on some kind of wooden grave : Is she also thinking that something is rotten in this kingdom?

Nice shot, if a touch macabre ;-) I found the post on the border to the left slightly distracting, and the same with the wooden grave she's sitting on - so I've posted a Workshop, see what you think!

Very nice one, Luko...
wish the girl was more to the side though, she is a bit too centered.
nice skull on the top there.

that realy good composition and right choose of b&w

Strange place...... good picture..... innocence and death together....bw looks good...

Very nice imahe . What a contrast between the girl's face and the skull. Death is something else in Asia. I kind of like there approach to death. Nothing to say about the pic.. it's good.

a little girl and the big skull far in the background, brrrr... well composed picture, even if the pole on the left is not necessary. strong effect of using B&W film. I just like it.
you have so many gems hidden deep in your pictures directory, posted ages ago, often they didn't get many points...I hope one day they will get as many comments and points as they deserve... there is so much we can learn from them ;-) keep them posting!

Sounds like an interesting place. I like your photo, but the composition might be a little better without the part of the pole on the left and somehow having less space between the girl and the skull on top

uh...very interesting and intriguing picture. good tones and composition.

It is very interesting, but I wonder what would have happened if you had gotten a little lower and aimed up more--you could have cropped tighter and still gotten the skull in.
