Today is Indonesian 61th independence day

I saw people, especially in the country side, really appreciate if their leader wants to visit them.
They waiting for hours, since morning, under the sun, just to be able to see the glimpse of the president.
And they cheered when the president waved and smiled at them ,.. and me too :)

Happy Independance day to you and all Indonesians !
This photo illustrates well how it goes when the Head of State ges out of his/her palace to visit the normal citizen, these nicely waving people are often the same as the ones who will sharply criticize the same person has soon as he/she has departed ;-) Nice reportage photo to go with the event and I see big german cars are trendy in Indonesia for official use as well !

Hi Cessy,
first of all Congratulation for this beautiful Nation and their inhabitants for the INDEPENDENCE.
I hope they will find peace and even more tolerance for their minority, e.g. christians and Indonesians with chinese origin. I hope this nation will be able to support the poor people better and to give them a perspective. I hope they will be able to live even more tollerant with their religios minorities.
I really feel attracted by this country.

Happy Independance day to all Indonesian ;) I see that your president have the same number plate than our king in Belgium ;)
Anyway, this is a good picture of that short moment where I imagine you were a little nervous, like all the crowd there. also, I like the hand signs on the foreground and the those on the people on the other side of the street. Well done!

Cessy, you got here a complete different POV to celebrate the indonesian independence day compared to your previous TE post. This is quite interesting to see all the happy citizens waving to heir president in its heavily guarded nad most likely blinded Mercedes showing us the results of the german products globalization ... :)
