BALI ARTS FESTIVAL #2 - BALINESE GIRL
Starting from last week, I've posted some photos that I took on 17 june 2006, during the openning of a cultural event in Denpasar, Bali : BALI ART FESTIVAL, which was held at Renon, around the museum bajra sandhi.
I took this candid photo of a balinese girl when the participants of this parade were waiting for their turn to performed at the stage, in front of Mr President.
The Bali Arts Festival is a full month of daily performances, handicraft exhibitions and other related cultural and commercial activities during which literally the whole of Bali comes to the city to present its offerings of dance, music and beauty. On display are trances from remote mountain slopes, forgotten or recently revived village dances, food and offering contests, classical palace dances, stars of Balinese stage, odd musical performances, "kreasi baru" (new creations) from the dance schools of Denpasar, as well as contemporary choreography and dance companies from other islands and from abroad.
I hope you like it.
Always PEACE !!

I love this one ...surely do!!
This is a Crackling capture here friend. Do i partly contribute it to Sandisk? :)
- Skin tone is very clear hence a very calculated lighting observation by you.
- Technically strong frame with crystal like clarity
- contrasts as brilliant.
- tight composition
Have you worked on the face separately in this? As the flowers on the head are over exposed where as the face is just too perfect. (else the lady has powdered it well :p)
Respects/See you around

Hi Yoga. The clarity is wonderful in this charming and arresting portrait. A beautiful subject handled with great delicacy and respect. The B&W treatment accentuates this woman's attributes. Regards. Klaudio

a lovely portrait, yoga.. i'd perhaps cloned the spot close to her mouth, no big deal.. having visited bali, this photo screams for colour though.. given your previous work here on te, is there any reason why you decided on b&w? i'd really love to see the original version..

good to see you back here on the site.
A wonderful b+w portrait.
Must be great to have the chance to see this festival. I wish I could stay in Bali for longer than the usual holidays.

This is simply fabulous..the lady's face is full of grace. Fantastic use of DOF..I like the B&W here, but I also wonder given the colourful dresses, how the coloured version would look like. Superb Yoga!

This is an excellent portrait. well done on DOF, cropping, focus. however, one small critique is, her nose and forehead are a bit hot....
in your portfolio you state you are new to photography. well, maybe you have beginners luck, or you got some genuine talent. good job.
