Photographer’s Note
Istiqlal Mosque in the fg, was built in 1984, & is the largest mosque in South East Asia. I liked how it framed a Christian Cathedral in the bg. Taken from the 'Monas Nacional' (National Monument), & shot through glass on the observation deck. More info here:

Hi Chris.
I didn't know what you told us in the note and it's great to learn something new.
Nice picture with great sense of depth. I like it.

Hi Chris,
the most astonishing element is the gothic cathedral ripped out of central France and placed here between the modern buildings of which the mosque is a outstanding example of modern architecture.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

excellent, clear view of Jakarta from Monas, Chris
the mosque, the church are well captured
there are some changes around this area, but maybe not much.
The formal name of the catholic church there is "De Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrowe ten Hemelopneming - Gereja Santa Maria Diangkat Ke Surga", built in 1901, but simply always called as Cathedral Church.

Interesting lines and circles all over the place, and even a bright red train rolling past. I wonder if the mosque's spire was meant to outdo the ones on the cathedral. Very good for a scan from an old photo shot through a window.

Hi Chris, interesting capture and note. Even Cessy's note about the cathedral is interesting. Nino

I can't help but wonder if there's some friendly rivalry over tower height here. Lots of details to enjoy from your high vantage point. I like the inclusion of the red train at the bottom too.

Excellent view of Jakarta. Many different elements in your shot with good details.
Great perspective and POV. The city slowly disappears in the horizon producing a good sense of depth. Colours, lighting and composition are very good.
Well done Chris.

Hi Chris, A nice PoV to see the city. The mosque is impressive with the tall tower. It is interesting to have the mosque and the cathedral built next to each other. I guess the cathedral is under the pressure to build a taller tower in competing with the mosque tower. Nice sharpness and a well taken picture.

Hi Chris. I like very much the eclectic mix of architecture. The lack of clarity in the distance isn't much of detraction because it's made up for by the good clarity in the foreground. tfs Chris.

Hi Chris,
Good overlooking point to get a comprehensive view, what I find amazing here is to see a cathedral of this size next to the big mosque, the red train is a good foreground detail, I wish you had framed a little bit lower to show it better.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Namaste Chris
Good POV & lots of interesting elements in the shot. As you have already said..the cathedral & the mosque the cathedral does look old), the lake, the red train in the FG
And a 14 year old image still has fantastic contrast & sharpness

Hi Chris,
What a great shot. You showed how great is the mosque. Seems there is another superb building at the back, is it a church or any castle? Great panorama of the city gives the character to the photo.
Greetings,
Aga
