Orang-utan Acrobatics
I took this in Bukit Lawang, where there is a rehabilitation centre for Orangutans. Many of the Orangs have been kept for many years as pets in cages and need a lot of help to be ready for real life out in the jungle. As they could not find enough food for themselves they were fed every morning at a platform in the jungle, and we went for a few mornings to watch. They are indescribably beautiful creatures. |

Hello David,
Very sad destiny for our cousin, victim of human's cupidity like the forest where they live.
Orang-outang in the language of the country means: Man of the forest.
Thank you for this photo which will be soon nothing any more but one photograph memory.
Kind regards
Serge

What a beautiful picture David. Perfect composition. I share the same fears as Stan, but I hope they will still make it...

Hi David this is simply lovely! As Serge said, human acts might soon put this photo into history... TFS. Bala
Incredible beautiful and icredibly strong! A great capture of this shy chap, although one must say he is very photogenic!
The scan lost some quality here.
I used to work with a guy, who is a TE'er who absoluetly loved Orangutans. He had a catch frase whenever he saw an Orangutan on the TV or a magazine. 'Ah! daily Orangutan' : )
