Photographer’s Note
Pupuan in Bali is famous for its terraced ricefields. I went there with some friends to get landscape photos initially, but the sky was terrible all day long. Luckily, it is also harvest period for some villages, and when we got there, there were a lot of activities to observe.
These ladies were separating the rice from the hull that surrounds it by repeatedly hammering it into some sort of shredder. All is done by hands, of course. After the rice was separated from the hull, then they cleaned it from chaff by tossing it above a mat and filter it thru some sort of bamboo filter.

Hi Sebastian, nice B&W shot with an even splitting in two between the foreground with the rice stalks and the background forest of trees.

A nice scene and human activity that must be photographed because maybe it'll disappear from Bali in a not very far future. Regards.
