Photographer’s Note

August 6, 2004.
After our visit of the volcano of Tankuban Perahu, we went in the town of Bandung for a visit to school of Saung Anklung Udjo. Ankglung, which is? It is a musical instrument which I will present to you in the next picture. This school allows young people from 4 to 16 years with this familiarizing with the traditionnal musics and songs as well as the typical puppets and spectacles. We have seen during 2 hours a superb show. Before we have seen the manufacture of these instruments, but this it is for the next time.

Hi, jacques
this brings back fond memories. I was there in 1994, and funnily, some of the young girls here look a bit like the ones at that time. Pure coincidence, 10 years after.
I am not sure 1/8th of a second was the right speed for this scene, only one young girl was slow enough to come up sharp, and we are begging to se who is that little face on the left.

love the expressions of the kids in the front row. they really seem to be immersed in the song. would be better if you crop out the right blank portion. i think i will try a workshop for this one.

un joli spectacle coloré ! dommage que nous ne pouvions profiter de la musique ! il faudrait peut être couper un peu à drote de la fille en orange pour éviter ce bout de bras jaune.

A lovely band with some fine pose of those lovely girls - thanks Jacques - I like the motion blur of the instruments and the different looks at there faces.

I think that is a lovely photo. Has a good composition, good light and colours and has also movement. The subject is very interesting and... and I like.

You've captured the natural expressions on the kids' faces very well here Jacques.
