Photographer’s Note
The Batak people of north Sumatra live in and around the Lake Toba area. The Batak actually consist of 6 culturally and linguistically distinct groups.
I was actually taking a photo of this lady's house, which had a beautiful carved roof, when she popped her head out and posed for a quick photo.
This image is from a scanned photo taken in 2000 on a Canon EOS 400D.
