Photographer’s Note

Lake Maninjaou is the second largest volcanic lake in Sumatra; not as overwhelmingly huge as Toba,it's still a great view. A trip by bus from a town of Bukkitingi will take you through a beautiful mountainous area covered with thick vegetation, and you'll finally find yourself on the edge of a large crater with the lake at its bottom. From there only 42 hairpin bends remain to get down...

We arrived there on a clouded day, there was a little mist over the lake, it was so calm and empty.
This purple tone is a result of scanning in my old scanner, not a reflection of natural colours but I like it. I ran it through NeatImage, the quality seems really poor this time, it seems a little too smooth to me but it looks better (I think) than before.
