Cloudy day at Lake Maninjau Photo

Photographer’s Note

Lake Maninjau is a beautiful crater lake, in the caldera of a dormant volcano. There is a man standing on the end of the spit. I liked the triangle of coconut trees against the backdrop of the volcano wall.

Taken from 'Pillys', a popular guesthouse.

Hi Chris, Nice paradisical environment. I like the clouds going down to beach level giving it a faraway feel.

With this picture you take us on a great,exotic trip again.The green coconut tress look nice against the dark blue volcano in the background.The man on the spit is a fine detail.

Hi Chris,
A good combination of exotism and dramatism, you could do some additional noise cleaning as it is visible in the darkest part, but the atmosphere of this shot is great !

I like the gloomy humid atmosphere here, maybe some gradual sharpening from the left side front level would be nice also.
I like that man standing at the end of land in the midts of the water, nicely seen.

What a beautiful place, so peaceful and green. I like the three layers of the composition with two sides of the triangle of land breaking into the horizontals. The light is very nice too. Great detail to have the man standing where he is.

Hi Chris. The green trees in a row are all quite eye catching and make for a good leading line. This is a dramatic place to be and you've captured that aspect of it well. Good shot Chris.

Hi Chris - the green coconut diagonal looks splendid in front of the dark background, I would never have guessed that this is a lake rather than an oceanside beach.

this is a lovely weather for me,Yes I like the cloudy sky in mountains,like here,and what a beautiful place you show us,Chris!
The man in far is a great extra element for the view,The bending trees towards the man is very strong movement in the shot,and this is a great direction for lead us our eyes towards the man,very well composed and great shot really,Thanks for posting it.

on the thumbnail it looked like a big breaking wave...
The mountain in the background have a fascinating dark blue, contrasting very well to the green und the blue of the water!

It is so unusual to see coconut palms around a crater lake in the mountains. Your composition is excellent and you have captured the mountain atmosphere well despite the presence of the coconut palms. Sharpness could be better, but given the date this was taken and the fact that this is a scan, we can't be too critical on that point. Cheers . . . David
