Photographer’s Note

One of the plaisures of travelling by boat around the islands of Komodo and Rinca are the wild and beautiful scenery and the pristine sea.
Every new day you can choose a place with crystal clear water where to snorkel and a peaceful one where to sleep. In this image we are facing Kalong island where, every evening, thousands of flying fox bats come out from their nest in search of food.

Who ever said the distortion off a ultra wide was annoying..it hold the frame together..perhaps the heads are intruding into the rocky island..but thats ok..

Flying bats in search of food..there is more horror to it than a fragment of a pristine and peaceful evening ;)

Hello Luca.
A wonderful shot with very wide angle lens. You have captured a beautiful gentle light and the stillness of the water. The composition is very bold, placing the boat so far on the side - I like it. The water seems so deep and luminous. Great shot, well done.
