Coconuts! and lot of them........
How many can you count before you go to zzzzzzzzzzz !
This was taken in Nanganesa fishng village, Ende District, just caught my eye when walking past a farmer's yard with all those humble coconuts being dried in the late afternoon sun, the cash crop the rural folks rely to supplement their income.

I counted 347.
A sea of coconut, but also of textures and reliefs.
I found your photo highly interesting and beautifully composed. The posture of the lady is eye-catching, offering interpretation for the viewers.
It is a clever portrait of a subject in its surrounding, out of the beaten path and visually stunning.

Very interesting composition. I can´t count them but I can enjoy them in your excellent photo. Well done !
macjake (71015) 2014-06-29 10:46
I agree with Andre, its a photo thats taken off the beaten path...the best type :)
and no, i'm not about to count the coconuts haha
with the way the coconuts look in the frame, the woman is almost invisible, she somehow seems to be blending into her surroundings! very cool.
smart idea to capture this one.
romanaa (8016) 2014-06-29 10:50
fantastic picture here. I love the patterns created by the open and closed coconuts, the rich colours that change with the change of pattern and the lady seems to have dressed up to match the colours of the shot.
chrislo (4097) 2014-06-29 10:52
A surprising view which your informative note makes even more interesting. These cococnuts appeared to me at first like big shells ! The worker is well positionned in the frame and helps to add scale here as well. Walking hours on coconuts is not only a difficult balancing act, but your feet must surely feel like jelly at the end of the day ! Nice contrasting colours and very sharp détails. Great everyday scene.
holmertz (57325) 2014-06-29 11:13
I should never be surprised by your photos, but here you show us a highly original and refined composition, definitely something out of the ordinary. The woman, with her bright colours, is well placed and facing the right direction, just where the area of nuts with a golden tone make way for the nuts with a silvery (or blueish) tone. It's simple but perfect and so attractive.

Good evening Abmdsudi,
Fantastically cought the moment, the lady in charge has to go a long way to come with a result, what a mission... I can see most are halved shells, maybe after counting.
The details shown in an immaculate clarity and fine colors in compo.
My cong.'s for a special photo.

Lep pogled na kokosove orahe ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazani kokosovi orasi, lepe boje.
Nice view of the coconuts ...
Good work, well displayed coconuts, pretty colors.
All the best.

Great shot! This woman is lost in a sea of coconuts. :-) Th textures and patterns are wonderful: they are on the ground, and also on her clothes. I like her placement in the frame, and the difference between the coconuts in the foreground and the ones behind. The coconuts further away seem to have been opened already. Very nice!
lousat (95838) 2014-06-29 13:13
This perspective is absolutely fantastic! What a idea to take this woman in red in this neverending coconut carpet! Magnificent pic, made with the usual top quality! 2 points are not enough today....ehehe....have anice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ambdsudi, No, it is impossible to count these coconuts, and besides, how to count halfs? Amazing colours ag these two parts of the picture - reddish up there and a bit blue in lower part. I do not quite understand what the woman is actually doing. Anyway, she is n a perfect place to make the photo very attractive and her red shawl fits so wonderfully to the pattern. Good observation with the perfect realization.

This is a fast for the eyes (as well as the palate). A very satisfying composition of colour, form and pattern. The coconut counter crouches in just the right place for an excellent composition. I like the way the fg comprises of whole coconuts and further away of half coconuts with their milky white flesh showing. But what is the blue in the fg? Whatever it is it adds so much to this fab image.
PS This one I have added to my favourites.

Salam Abmdsudi. Original perception of life and its little surprises. Nice how she forms a divide between the warm tones and cool ones , between the upturned warm interiors and outer shells of the coconuts.Nice too how her top complements the upper register of colours. By the way, i discovered recently a Uighur restaurant about 20 minutes from my suburb- the real thing run by a young Uighur woman who asked me if I was Turkish when I popped in to say hello. Plan to go and try her cuisine soon. A couple of your wonderful photos would look g4reat on her walls- like the bread seller and the two men in the tea-house.Best wishes. Klaudio.

Coconuts as far as the eye can see! The farmer is well place in the frame. The colors and the chaotic patterns look lovely.

Elle est étonnante cette mer de noix de coco. Quel travail pour tous les ouvrir! Une scène insolite bien photographiée.

This is such a magnificent capture! The lady sitting among the seemingly endless number of coconuts makes a fascinating subject. Great exposure that brings out so many subtle shades and textural details. Congratulations for this great picture!
Have a great new week ahead.
Apurba20 (984) 2014-06-30 2:21
Very astonishing, this photo. Initially, I was almost inclined to believe that coconuts were indeed skulls.
Is the lady (?) counting? Do not think so, (s)he is probably lost in thought, maybe to some faraway land. But a nice tagline, had me, and many others, hooked.
Have a great week.
CLODO (35352) 2014-06-30 4:09
we have to look close to discover her thanks to her red cloth amongst the many coconuts. she is just at the border of open coconuts and in full nut. Amazing!
timecapturer (49288) 2014-06-30 5:18
an amazing shot this. So original and compelling. I love the crop and the superb way you have composed, executed and presented this.
Have a good week - B.

Awesome pic showing the coconuts and the man sitting on them. Composition is very good. Colour are very nice.
Oceania (5202) 2014-06-30 6:48
This picture is amazing! I would guess this lady was working to open the shells of the coconuts. The light condition was perfect. And the composition was also perfect.
danos (101766) 2014-06-30 6:53
great the snapshot with the all these coconuts to were dried in the farmer's yard.I like the tight frame with the man as counting all these coconuts. Excellent the light and the colour management of the image.

Fantastique tapis de Noix de coco, spectaculaire avec la personne dessus, essayant de tenir l'équilibre, très belle image et scène étonnante
Noel_Byrne (33054) 2014-06-30 12:42
These are coconuts? Wow, for some rid reason I thought these were crabs, though I can't explain why. They look very different from the seasonal coconuts we see in Ireland which are very dark and quite hairy. We only get those in October though, a very seasonal thing here.
This is a very impressive scene of this never ending vista of the seeds, and the woman hard at work, almost lost in the sheer numbers. Is a fascinating portrait and I think if I look hard enough I would start to see pictures in the shapes on the ground. Very nicely done.
rychem (40627) 2014-06-30 20:25
Wow, a lot of nuts, great photo, the woman is very well placed, bravo regards Ryszard
shevchenko (20548) 2014-06-30 20:39
I wonder how many times and workers are require to collect all these coconuts, and how wide the land that need for laying out all these fruits, good frame to show a lively daily life photo of local people, the colourful costume in traditional patterns of the women is very nice too, distinct photo, well done.
Graal (103038) 2014-07-01 2:27
unusual scenery and photographic theme. Good captured and fine presentation here. Photo I like a lot.
Have a nice day.

Fantastically count the moment, the lady in charge has to go a long way to come with a result, what a mission, a pity that we not can hear the lady count the number of.
Sharpness and clarity make the picture very attractive.
Excellent perspective and depth too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,
saxo042 (37966) 2014-07-01 7:46
The woman in bright colours is well positioned in the composition. The coconuts add a very fine pattern too. A very interesting view, nothing you can find here in Sweden...
ACL1978 (7511) 2014-07-01 11:59
Hello Abmdsudi! What a fantastic image here - the farmer appears to be balancing on the coconuts themselves as they dry. And of course the separation between open and closed coconuts in the top and bottom half of the image adds another layer of detail to an already arresting shot. Thanks!
delpeoples (59430) 2014-07-02 4:31
Ooooh wow, I don't think I've ever seen that many coconuts in my life! Trying to take them all in is making me go cross-eyed and feel a little dizzy! What a wonderful graphism, and such character. You have really captured the extraordinariness and beauty of everyday life of these fascinating people. Superb POV, wonderful use of the wide angle lens and spot on light management. Bravo!!!!
eldancer1 (36343) 2014-07-02 9:59
This takes me back to my younger days growing up in the family farm in the Philippines. Harvesting coconuts and drying the meat for export. But I love to eat the young coconut meat, I wish we have them in Las Vegas. This woman seems very intent in her job. The cropping certainly provided the wide scope and magnitude of the job. Good details. Well done, tfs.
nikkitta (17068) 2014-07-02 12:40
Always is such a pleasure to watch and comment your creative shots, quite out of common, not to count the coconuts, but to enjoy colors, (nice blue ones) and textures
All creating a good composition with the off center woman
Enjoy watching, good work,tfs

Excellent photo work, you have chosen an outstanding POV to capture these fascinating scene. The light, the colors, the neatness, the depth are exceptional. Excellent composition, good presentation too. Very well done
Wanda1 (15142) 2014-07-02 22:17
What I really like here, apart form the interesting subject, is your point of view from above which shows so nicely the lady in the sea of valuable produce. Good use of wide angle and great composition too.
ourania (49799) 2014-07-03 14:22
I wonder if the lady is opening the coconuts, the crop looks large and it has helped you too to create an original and very attractive composition. The lady stands out superbly, enhances the perspective and adds reference to this mesmerizing landscape of round patterns. I like how the contrast between light and shadow makes the graphic coconut scape even more interesting. Textures and colours are fantastic. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Kamilutka (8107) 2014-07-04 3:44
is she really counting them? That must give you right headache or imagine someone distracting you halfway through the task :-) No wonder she is no paying attention to you and that makes this picture so natural and lovely. I love the framing very much with loads of coconuts creating very eye catching settings.
Nicely given colors, sharpness and contrast.
Well done my friend!
jemaflor (101273) 2014-07-04 23:59
well framed, good effect with the FG, Perfect with this lady, good light management.
siudzi (34141) 2014-07-06 3:30
What a superb daily life scene! So original and interesting in my opinion! It was observed and photographed from a well selected POV to show the sea of the coconuts. Brilliant idea and observation. Like it!

Very attractive interesting scene with a deep foreground
A hard way to count coconuts
siolaw (38292) 2014-07-08 0:42
Quite an impressive shot of the lady lost in an ocean of coconuts. The view has a compelling visual impact, even though she does not look at you!
Waylim (25436) 2014-07-09 17:32
From a distance they look like dinosau eggs :) I don't want to be the one counting them. It would drive me crazy. But as a picture this looks awesome.
Sorry, been away for some time due to unfortunate personal and family events.
Angshu (56760) 2014-07-11 2:37
Stunning work...almost creates an optical illusion with the sea of coconuts. The man seems to be lording over the fruits while sitting on them...wonder how he is retaining his balance.
Excellent environmental portrait work here, if I may say, but definitely a fine DL shot!
fritzi007 (11860) 2014-07-14 13:22

Great shot! The ground covered with coconuts great such a perfect pattern and the person there, counting them, is just perfect. I see the ones in background are already open. A great daily scene that witnesses their hard life!
