Hi, nice to see you again.
I seen a lot of beautifull monochrome photo lately, and i get interrestend too, so i decided to upload this one.

Photo taken at 14.30 or so. I've used a hand made extention tube to get about 1.3:1 (greather than life size magnification). To bad, it makes the lens catch the flare from flash too (you can see it on the center of image), but i pretend as it a grass that out off focus.
The flash power is 20 and diffused, and the effective aperture is around 1/40.

Post processing :
Desaturate, duplicate the image, a little gaussian blur for background to compensate sharpening, unsharp mask (not a necessary step at this stage), resize, unsharp mask again.

The digonal composition of dragonfly is excellent.The light well captured.The background is absorbing for the insect.The head of dragonfly is a srong point in this shot.

Photograph in range of gray for a delicate dragonfly. The composition on the diagonal allows us a complete vision of the insect and the plane blur of back is well used. A success

Hi Amri,
you are working on closeups nowadays as far as I see. I like the diagonal line of this photo it is very strong. The flare bothers the photo but that's okey, I can pretend it as a grass out of focus :) Anyways nicely done. Regards, Seda...

Very nicely photographed. I love the look of the dragonfly. It's almost metallic in appearance. And the wings are like very fine metal wire with glass. I guess I feel this because it's so shiny and smooth and rigid and the silvery quality of the black and white, too. So I really like that this is done in black and white. And I like how you have the dragonfly leading us from corner to corner with a great blurred background. Very nicely done.

Good close-up photo, which works very well in B&W. Nice details, good composition and good DOF. Great tech work too. And I find it amazing that you used a HAND MADE extention tube for this. Well done!
