Photographer’s Note
The natural color tone of this one really caught my attention. Is this looking anything like LOTR (Lord of the Rings) scenery? At 3600 feet ASL at the Kalimantan View Point, I found this Jungle lady with extra long hair, a bastket by her side, sitting by the edge of the cliff looking down at the valley that I shot yesterday during a nature study trip. The background here is the same as yesterday's post of the valley and mountains with fog and clouds. I was experimenting with heavy lens handheld, the group did not allow time for me to use tripod.
I was looking down the steep cliff and noticed this tree stump of dark color tone, and a type of fern leaf growing on the tip. Stetching full 500mmFL and trying my best to stablise the lens at only 1/50s, you can say I had a little shaky hand holding 2.2kg weight. The mix of dark burnt color and wood tone, with a leaf of green, and this fern of softness and color prompted me to take 3 shots. I would not call this macro shot because of 500mmFL limit, the sharpness is purely my fault. It was a mistake to join this trip as Bird Race to identify highland birds in the jungle. I brought the lens but my team mate decided to skip bird shooting and went to this Jungle Walk. So I had to carry heavy 50-500mm lens all the way for 2hr hike trail. If I had time on my own, I would wait for light condition changes and shoot more landscape at this altitude of the jungle and mountains.

Bill,
I do like the color and composition of the image. I don't get that impression of what I get from most of your other shots. Perhaps a jungle lady that is open up a little bit more or something to anchor my vision. But it look good as an abstact piece.

Hello Bill,
The picture is most strange, do not know if it is a fungus or an outbreak of the trunk of the tree.
Excellent composition and colors with very good details.
Best regards,
Charo

Hello Bill,
Thanks for sharing shooting experience in the jungle, Kalimantan just near to your city if compare with me in capital city, although the main subject is blur, but the background is artistic, I think may be can improve it quality with software, but i am not sure how long time you had spend to edit it.
This seem as a new born 'paku pakis' or species of fern, hope to see more from this jungle.

Hi Bill,
At first, I tought that it was an animal. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the tree stump and of the fern. The picture is clear and precise. The light is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.

Hi Bill. Good framing with this long lens shooting really close in fine macro. The silenced blue background adds beauty to this well composed shot. TFS and have a nice day. Jusni
