Photographer’s Note

This is really a moment of crossing a national boundary by foot! Borneo is shared by 3 nations, Indonesia to the south and East Malaysia (consisting of Sarawak and Sabah) and Brunei to the north. Today instead of weekly Sunday mountain trek, we went to Borneo Highlands near Indonesia border to do Nature study at 3600feet altitude with a large group of nature lovers. Although I failed to observe most of bird species due to my lack of knowledge about the habitat, the jungle walk was most enjoyable in the company of friendly people.

Wondering why the color tone of this view? This is the actual look of the sky. At this altitude, the jungle is soggy and wet even when there is no rain. I guess the high dampness and moisture of the clouds really cast a thin veil of hazy mood over the mountains at this height.

Along Borneo Highlands' trails on the mountain ranges, many boundaries are pegged. Today, we crossed over to the Kalimantan border of Indonesia a few times when we saw the pegs at the jungle trail. This view is to the south, over the Kalimantan forests and mountains. We are fortunate this year that Kalimantan had not produced too much haze from forest burning. I included the colorful flowers just to show the natural growth of vegetation at 3600feet altitude by the cliff.

The view is breathtaking Bill, I am not sure if the foreground OOF red leaves does anything for this image though. Travel safe and enjoy

It must be a real experience to be at such a place. Just above the clouds is a great experience. I like the inclusion of the red plants in the foreground and the open view it offers

The composition makes this a 'pure' picture. I love that line of red at the bottom. THis makes this already impressive sight into a really great shot. Good work.

Olá Bill, it's diferent from what I remember to see in Mount Kinabalu...I like a lot the contrast of color in FG but I would prefer to see it focused since the view has the faded tones you refer in the note. Anyway, it works well as a painting.

The point of view leads our eyes toward the valley below. The red bushes in the foreground are framing the scenery well. The klight has a special effect on the colors of the valley and the sky. Have a nice day.
