Mount Merapi or Gunung Merapi in Indonesian language, its name means Mountain of fire, is a conical volcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. It has 2914 metres high (9560ft) and very close to the city of Yogyakarta and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1700 m above sea level. The last large eruption occurred in 2006 shortly before the Yogyakarta earthquake. In the light of the hazards that Merapi poses to populated areas, it has been designated as one of the Decade Volcanoes.

Hello Daniel,

Do people hike to the summit of this volcano? I like the composition with the cone on the left giving way to a large green valley. Nice colours but the sharpness I think is not the best. Excellent note as well. Thanks Daniel and have a great week :-)

Roberto

Hi Daniel, the composition with the heightened sky, and the stretched valley are very good. It's almost as if you expect it to erupt. Excellent colour seen especially in that jungle.

Thanks, John

Hi Daniel,

That's amazing vision..
The mountains are in smoke.... and still its beautifull...
Great shot, my dear friend.
Fine tones and lights.
All the best.

Hello Daniel,

What a mountain! Incredible volcano!
We dont have such great things in Poland:)))
Interesting composition with the main subject on the left, very nice colours but seems the sharpness is exactly not the best...but its a good and interesting shot.

Greetings,
Mikeo

Great shot. Perfect composition and lovely colors. Buy yourself a nice frame to hang it on the wall.

Hi Daniel!

I remember very well the majestic Merapi mountain and its fearful volcano, during my visit to central and west Java, unfortunately those days of the deadly earthquake in Yogyakarta! Excellent capture, simple but great composition, beautiful clouds around (and inside?) the mountain. Congratulations!

Hi Daniel,
It's a stunning view over the volcano that vast green almost flatland in front of it. Those scenic clouds gave you a hand on the compo. It may not be the sharpest of your posts, but I guess the weather is to blame, but it is still a great photo.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hello Daniel
Good to see your new post & also nice to hear that you’d been to Yogyakarta. Well composed with the mighty Merapi off centre & the slope covering the frame with nice greenery in the FG. Difficult light, I think, but handled quite well.
Best Regards
Angshu

Hello Daniel,
It is refreshing to see a composition with an offset volcano!
Fresh colours and good division of the frame, fine details in the surrounding landscape...
