Photographer’s Note
Singosari Temple dates from 1292 ad & is located 12 km north of the east Javan city of Malang. The greenish color is from lichens & moss. This area has a high rainfall, & is tropical. The roof is a representation of the Hindu Mt Meru. There are 2 gigantic heads carved into the temple. I think they're called kalas?
The Indonesian schoolchildren are busy taking archeological & historical notes. Well, some of them are! The teachers accompanied these kids on their school field excursion.

Goodmornin Chris,
What a live photo from 14 years past.
These kids now may be father or mother.
Thanks for sharing,
Sarhan.

Hi Chris,
A old picture very well scanned near this old temple with a funny and graphic effect of the schoolchildren seated in a serie of repetitive patterns and lines.
Very well seen, a great moment to capture this also nice moment and a good job.
Congratulations and all the best to you.

Good shot which not only shows the history of the place, but also the future. It's a great contrast to have this in one shot, looking both forward and back at the same time. It also helps to show the huge scale of these ruins. Excellent!

Hi Chris, You have done an excellent job to capture this picture with big crowd well spreading around the ruin. Nice contrast to show that everyone was concentrated to work on some writing/drawing except a few wondering :D. It is pity to have a dull sky. All the other colors are vivid and well saturated. A well taken picture.

The crowd is one element, the temple a second and the nature around the third.. Very classic and bzautifuland full of charm with the meeting of uniformed kids with History and religion.
A great place

Hey Chris. You would think with all those people it would be overly busy but that's not the case at all. That sure is a lot of kids! Nice shot Chris.

Hola Chris.
Very good work in this scanned picture, looks like it was taken just a few days ago.
The children surrounding the temple really are very busy. Good composition. Well done.
Happy New Year.

Hi Chris,
I like this shot as it has some message behind when you have those childrens around this temple. One has to look into the past inorder to move into the future. Your POV have this scene beautifully composed with a nice arrangement of the children and the temple. The rich colours of the temple is very attractive. Excellent shot!!! A Happy New Year and thanks for the help.

Chris,
I like the lively image with a past history looming behing the future, which should now be present!!
The temple no doubt looks like some remnant of Chola Architecture...
Ancient chols from south India had their conquest in these reions & spread the art & culture from thier home stead.
I am able to see a lot of similarities with that of the later Chola Architecture..
Cheers,
Prem.

Nice shot, apart from the large overexposed sky. HDR would have done a great thing but as I see this picture is very old, and you certainly had no shot of the sky, so it just wouldn't be possible. This photo is a little special for me, as it grands a view on a object...of the town/city..my mother is born. She's born in Malang ! and left it a few years after birth, but still, it's nice to see where her roots are. So for me this is a nice idea, but that won't be for everybody.
I like the ritual you've caught here, schoolchildren very busy with writing. And it's such a large class (if it is one and not more)! I don't see these ritauls here, so it's quite nice to see it this way.
Sharpness is pretty okay here.
Thanks for sharing this place to us.
Regards,
Emiel from Holland.
