Photographer’s Note

Hello All, Hope you're all well

The last photo I uploaded before going for my holidays was taken from the car window...and the first photo which I am posting after the holidays, is also taken from a window...this time from an aircraft

As our flight approached Bali's Denpasar Airport, the pilot announced that we can see a dormant volcano from the left window...I peered down from the window & saw this marvellous view! The turquoise green lake in the caldera of this dormant volcano, with another volcano to the immediate right....Fluffy clouds floating around & the landmass and the coast visible in the horizon. Truly a sight I've never seen before.

True it's not a great photo technically with the reflections of the window glass (moreso because the view was below the flight level), the sun's flares, the aircraft wings all visible...but tell me how often do we get a chance to see such a wonder of natural beauty? So here I am..posting the shot for you to see and hopefully enjoy...

Postscript : This is the Kawah Ijen Crater lake, located in the IJen Plateau which lies in the centre of the ijen - Merapi - Maelang Reserve, which extends over much of the mountainous region to the west of Banyuwangi, bordering or, the Baluran National Park. A luminous blue/green crater lake lies at the far eastern end of the plateau and is without doubt one of the most impressive of East Java's natural wonders.

Kawah IJen is 2,300 metres above sea-level. The enormous lake, which is 200 metres deep, contains approximately 36,000,000 cubic metres of steaming, acid water. A walk around the crater takes a full day.

This information is thanks to "annna" who has been so kind to correct my earlier details.
