Photographer’s Note
In Java, Indonésia, some men are extracting day after day a mere sulphur from an active volcanic cone, the Kiwa Ijen volcano.
They carry the sulphur in cane baskets weighting up to 100 Kg. It is very hard work and their life expectancy averages 40 years old. Though, this raw material provides then with a better wage than many other agricultural works in the region. Workers usually wear a wet cloth on mouth and nose to portect from the acid smoke.
Background is the luminous blue / green sulphur lake which is 200 metres deep and contains approximately 36,000,000 cubic metres of steaming, acid water...

Great note to go along with this pic. I think the framing you've chosen is interesting. The foreground color is good, but I can't help thinking that either a more closeup shot of the man's face and baskets or a more panoramic shot would be better in this setting.

Hi!
Nice photo.
It illustrate very well the life in indonesia.
I think the photo could be cropped and the central image more centered, but it loses the scarped mountain.
Very well
