Photographer’s Note
Caged birds are sold widely in Indonesia, especially in Java. In one hand, it looks like an unfriendly attitude to animals. But, on the other hand, keeping bird as pet is a cultural tradition in Indonesia especially in Java. Grown up men have to have bird as a symbol of grown up life. Some species of bird have very high value of money, i.e. a "perkutut" could have price as much as Rp 1 billion (US$ 120,000).

I really like to take pictures at bird markets...one can always find an interesting composition among the people and the bird cages. You've done a wonderful job here. I really like the man's position in the frame with the bird cages right in front of him. The background looks quite busy, but you've managed to narrow it down a little. Anyway, nice compo, nice colors and a wonderful shot. Good work.
