this kyte will never fly Photo

Photographer’s Note

In Fatalillah place, old part of the dutch Batavia ( Jakarta).
Theese chilfren came here with a kite; all is well organized: the boy on left holds the rope (?), the girl holds the kyte and the oldest leads the operation.
but ther is a big problem: everytime the kytes begins flying up, the youngest sister is scared and gets crying and crying, so they have to stop, consolate her until she stops crying before trying a new flight.
Of course the same thing happens, she is really very scared, so after half an hour, all the band have to go back home...and the kyte keeps on dreaming flying high in old Batavia sky.

Tres jolie compo, Joel, chaque personne est placee de facon ideale, en plus de quoi ton "timing" est au poil. Tout le drame reuni dans le visage angoisse du mome. C'est tout franchement splendide.

Bonjour Joël,
Elle super cette scène ainsi que le texte explicatif qui l'accompagne. J'adore le stress de la petite (on l'entend presque crier d'ici), les deux grands qui tentent de la rassurer et le quatrième au fond qui à l'air de désespérer de voir voler son cerf-volant un jour (et d'après ce que tu nous racontes, il n'a pas tort!).
C'est bien composé avec ce cadrage serré autour des enfants qui ne laisse percevoir aucun élément qui pourrait distraire notre regard.

There's so much expression in this picture. The older children look like they're trying as hard as possible to calm the little girl down. Brilliant capture.
