Photographer’s Note
Jakarta is one of the busiest most hectic cities I have ever visited. According to Wiki it is the 12th largest city in the world with around 23 million people. Instead of “rush hour” they have 24 hour traffic congestion. The Indonesian people both in and outside of this staggering metropolis are friendly and warm.
We drove about 45 minutes out of the city to a safari style zoo. The only way to experience the zoo was by car. The animals had a lot more room to roam than any other zoo I have ever visited. It gave me flashbacks of Jurassic Park as the gates opened and we drove between the exhibits. My friend from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi continually opened his window and tried to pet 300 pound Sumatran tigers, but luckily for us we all left with our fingers, toes, arms, and legs.
