Photographer’s Note
I was talking with a group of people when this woman came by. She joined the group (although she didn't speak Indonesian), and was smoking a home made sigaret. In the beginning she didn't want to be photographed, but when she saw some other people willing and the results on my LCD she wanted to be photographed also. It's a pitty she didn't want me to take the photo while she was smoking, but still I find it an interesting portrait.
The thing on her head is a nokin, some kind of handmade (hooked?) bag in which the woman here carry their goods. This can be everything, from vegetables to the market to little pigs and little children.
That's why I think this picture fits into transportation also. There are not many roads here and many people doesn't have the money to take a taxibus. So they transport everything in their nokin, sometimes even more then one, full of whatever they want to sell in the market.
Normally only the woman carry these things, sometimes you see empty handed husbands following them, naked except for their gourd.
