Bakar batu

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I went to Pumo, a small village close to wamena, with a friend of mine. On our way back we came in a small village where they were preparing a bakar batu.
With a bakar batu they dig a hole in the ground, fill it with leaves, spices and meat (mainly babi, pork) and after that they close the pit. Meanwhile they are heating stones on a huge fire. These hot stones come on top of the food to stew the food ready (which can take some hours).
The old man is wearing the traditional Papuan dressing, the gourd. |

Welcome to TE, Jacob.
I like your first post, because it shows interesting things. The differences between the man in, i assume, traditional "clothes" despite his hat and on the other side the younger women in modern clothes. Your Info is also very interesting. Keep posting.

This is good... not perfect but just good... a few things which make the compostion really interesting (despite the washed out sky)... the old man on the right, smoke, two youngsters out of which the middle one is having open mouth in such a strange way that it was the first thing I looked at watching your picture...
the picture itself is a snapshot ! but i like it because the people are still so authetic ! fantastic ! it makes me want to go there immediately !
