Highest peak in Indonesia archipelago is in Papua (prepiously known as Irian Jaya). At top of Jayawijaya Mountain, one can see snow eventhough this island is in the tropics. There are 10 peaks with altitude more than 4,000 meter above sea level in Papua. The highest peak is Cartenz Pyramid.

A cottage has been operated commercially in this remote higland. To visit this place, from Jayapura -capital city of Papua Province- has to fly by small aircraft to Wamena and then by minibus all the way to the site, following a dirt and bumpy road. Wamena is located at Baliem Valley at high of 1,500 meter above sea level and this cottage is at more than 2,000 meter above sea level. Midday temperature is about 25 C and 15 C at dawn.

Cone-shape roof of the cottage resembles tranditional house of native highlander of Papua, made of dried grass. The traditional house in local language is called 'honai'.

All of your efforts to reach this place will be awarded with a very scenic view from up here. I will post some of the view in this website. I promise you!

For now, enjoy the view from the cottage first...

What a colorful scne, ben! And the PP makes it seem like a watercolor, I like.

Hi Benyamin,

This looks like an amazing place on Earth. Very good note. I like the bright powerful colors but sharpness could be better. TFS, Gilbert

Hello Benyamin,
it is really too bad that the sharpness is not so good! The view seems nice but details are lacking...the colors are very nice and the compo is great!
Thanks for sharing!
Marc

Benyamin, je trouve que les couleurs sont un peu trop poussées mais la photo est bien composée. C'est un pays qui a l'air de mériter d'être connu.
