Photographer’s Note

A brief encounter in a street of Bhuj in western India, October 1985. This woman was less embarrassed by posing for a picture than the one I showed yesterday.
Yes, I know that the pole and the wires to the left are blurred. That's a result of trying to get rid of noise in the sky.
This was scanned from A Kodachrome slide.

Just checked the photos before going to work (it becomes a tradition) :o)

I'm sure that those blurry wired you mentioned in the note are so important! imho, they aren't important at all. And if you take a portrait photo the background is often blurry or very blurry (depending on the settings in the camera).

In my opinion, this is a very good scan and good work! I feel the depth of the scene. And the bright warm colours of the lady's clothes and of the container on her head match each other perfectly.

As for the fact that she was embarrassed or maybe a little displeased.... maybe she thought that it's so difficult to carry a child and a container at the same time, and some stranger stops her and asks to pose a bit!

I like your POV here and grainy accent on your models.
Well caught scene from a daily life.
But as for me theres too much contrast between background and the first plan. :-)

Why are you apologetic of the blurry wires? Don't mind it. You have a very interesting and colorful subject. The woman portrays humbleness and sincerity. You have good POV! Cheer up.

Very good colours and a fine balance in this portrait. The sharpness of the lady is very fine. Did you try to clone stamp the blur totally out of the picture? That might have been more radical!
