Photographer’s Note
A picture taken at Gopalpur Sea beach, located about 16 km away from Berhampur, Orissa. One can see the collapsed walls and pillars of the ancient jetty, which can make you remember Gopalpur’s maritime past, when it was an active port.
In this picture, the fishermen are bringing back the boat, which has just reached the seashore after spending few days inside the sea, for the purpose of catching fish. These fisherman use various words like “huia ho”, “Jor lagake”, in a very rhythmic way, when they carry these boats to the shore.
